Dennard, David Assistant Professor


David C. Dennard specializes in the social and cultural history of the United States in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. As director of the Institute for Historical and Cultural Research since 1999, he has worked extensively with museums and historic sites in North Carolina, and is affiliated with a number of current boards and organizations.  In 2001, Governor Michael F. Easley appointed Dennard to the Historic Bath Commission, a board that provides leadership for the oldest town in the state of North Carolina.  He is a current member of the executive council for the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
