Carlson, John Instructor

Positions

John teaches Theatre Education, Theatre History, and the Introduction to Theatre Distance Education courses for the School of Theatre and Dance. He received his BA in Communications from Salisbury State University (Salisbury, MD), his MFA in Acting from Western Illinois University (Macomb, Illinois) and his NC State Teacher's License, K-12 from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC).

John has toured the Midwest with a children’s theatre company through WIU.  At ECU, he has performed in The Tempest, Barefoot in the Park, Oklahoma, Cabaret, The Underpants and other productions.  In the summer's of 2009, 2010 and 2011 John taught ECU students in Italy for the College's Italy Intensive Program.  During this time students visited Rome, Certaldo, Sienna, Pisa, Florence, Venice as well as many other Italian cities.

John is a member the Society of American Fight Directors and Dueling Arts International.
