Michael Tahaney is the BFA Program Coordinator for the Musical Theatre Area. He earned his BA in Theatre Arts at the University of Central Florida and his MFA in Musical Theatre at San Diego State University. His graduate studies were completed after a lengthy professional career where he performed internationally in European tours, on cruise ships, at Walt Disney World, on regional theatre stages and in the world premiere of the Tony Award winning Thoroughly Modern Millie. He is a member of Actors’ Equity and has been recognized by PBS for outstanding musical theatre performance. Favorite roles include Bobby in Company, El Gallo in The Fantasticks and Hermocrates in Triumph of Love. In addition to teaching the musical theatre BFA concentration courses, he enjoys performing with his students and fellow professional actors. During the ECU academic seasons and the ECU/Loessin Summer Theatre he has appeared in Damn Yankees; Smokey Joe’s Café; I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; and Guys and Dolls among others. He also directs and has collaborated on many revues in the East Carolina area as well as nationally for Benefits, Galas and Special Events.
